For this Riverside-area home, the homeowner wanted their dark, underused basement to feel like an extension of the main floor rather than an afterthought. JG General Contractors started from bare concrete, framing and insulating the space before running new electrical, lighting, and mechanical. We installed durable click-vinyl flooring throughout, creating a seamless flow between the guest bedroom, open-concept kitchenette, fitness zone, and media area.
The kitchenette features prefinished dark cabinetry, sleek hardware, and a bright tile backsplash, anchored by pure white quartz countertops that reflect light back into the space. In the lounge, a floor-to-ceiling stone feature wall with an electric fireplace and wall-mounted TV becomes the focal point for movie nights. The bedroom includes modern sliding closet doors and recessed lighting, making it feel calm and inviting. Large mirrors in the gym area visually expand the room while providing a true workout studio feel.
By carefully coordinating colours, finishes, and lighting, our team delivered a basement that functions as a self-contained living space: perfect for guests, extended family, or everyday relaxation – and a major value add for this Ottawa home.
